PRESS RELEASE:
With some sponsorship help from pump optimisation specialists Riventa, a team from Thames Water has helped raise thousands of pounds for WaterAid at its annual Raft Race on the River Thames at Reading.
Comprising members of Thames Water’s Energy Team, the Riventa-sponsored raft was part of one of the company’s flagship fundraising events, now in its 24th year. Thames Water staff have raised more than £1.3 million to improve access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene in impoverished communities in Malawi. Since WaterAid was created in 1981, Thames Water employees and customers have donated a staggering £40M-plus to the charity.
Mauro Lafratta, Energy Engineering Project Manager at Thames Water, said: “We are grateful to Riventa and all our sponsors for helping make this such a fun event. It raises much-needed funds for people in less fortunate parts of the world who can benefit from WaterAid’s great work. And we’re proudly relieved to report that the Energy Team’s raft did not sink!”
